My mother-in-law Martha has a special Mother’s Day card tucked away for safekeeping. She bought it many years ago for her birth mother she hadn’t seen in 66 years.
Martha wrote in the card about how she was appreciative that her mother had given birth to her. She wrote about yearning to know her mother and how she loved her despite having been separated. It is a very bittersweet card written with much love and consideration.
Martha reminded me yesterday, when we video chatted, about that letter and she got teary-eyed when she said this is her first Mother’s Day knowing about her birth mother. This Mother’s Day she has a photo of her mother Librada between the pages of the card.
